Soothing gentleness for your soul

11 / 18 / 16
Misty Morning

I don’t ask for the meaning of the song of a bird or the rising of the sun on a misty morning. There they are, and they are beautiful. Pete Hamill.

The angels have been whispering to renew myself by focusing on the simple things, the gifts. That it is OK to let my world be small sometimes.

I am a highly sensitive empath and it is a tumultuous time with lots of harsh energies floating around. I am here to share gentle calm energy, for those who need it.

So… not much words… just beautiful photos of a  misty morning on our farm. To soothe your soul and bring a gentle respite to your day.

A blessing is a circle of light drawn around a person to protect, heal and strengthen. John O’Donohue.

Sending you the blessing of sacred light.

Sunlight dancing with the shadows

Luminous photo of light

Every moment of light and dark is a miracle. ~Walt Whitman

What is light? I thought I knew, but the class Layers of Light, by international artist Laly Mille is opening my eyes in new ways.

The dictionary definition says,

Light: The natural agent that stimulates sight and makes things visible.

In my life, I often wish it could be all “light”, and easier. Yet as Laly showed us… a blank white canvas, all light, has no definition. It takes some contrast, shadows, or layers to really let the light shine.

This concept is fascinating me.  Perhaps all the struggles of life, are providing layers that give our inner light more definition. More light.

The first painting project is about adding layers of light and contrast. It was hard for me at first to deliberately add some black ink.  But after I could see how the dark spots contrasted with the layers of light colors and actually brought my eyes to notice the light. In my photo,  the dark branches of the trees highlight the rays of sunshine.

My class painting. Winter’s song of light

Layers of Light with Laly Mille is exceptional, and I have only completed week 1! I am learning art is a way to shine our light with the world. Including the hard parts.

Now is the time to unite the soul and the world. Now is the time to see the sunlight dancing as one with the shadows. ~Rumi

Blessings of luminous light,

Searching for light

Soft flower light

Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness. ~Desmond Tutu.

I started a new online  painting class called Layers of Light, by an artist I truly admire, Laly Mille . Our first warm up assignment was to photograph different kinds of light throughout the day. In my mind I was picturing beautiful rays of light shining through the trees and bright red leaves against a blue sky. But reality was rain, clouds and fall gloom. On day 3 of gloom, I decided to go outside and see if there was any glimpses of light through the clouds.

As I slowed down and gazed, I found the light was there. It showed itself in soft subtle ways. On the petal of a flower, reflections on the brick sidewalk, the contrast of leaves against a gray white sky. The light was still there.

That realization shifted something inside me. The light is always there. God is always there. Sometimes soft, subtle is light is the most soothing to my soul.

I will share more as I learn to infuse layers of light on a canvas. Stop by to see Laly Mille’s beautiful artwork. It is full of light, beauty,  textures and much love. I find it very healing.

Love and Blessings,

Tiny tea angels

Angel of the Forest

Come, let us have some tea and continue to talk about happy things. – Chaim Potok

Sip the tea, dry the bag in the sun, remove the tea leaves and sprinkle them around the garden. There is a sacred ceremony to preparing tea bags as a tiny canvas to paint upon.

And then a bit of magic happens. The reddish tea stains often reveal a face, or wings. On the angel above the shape of her wings in the tea stains looked like leaves. There is a sense of peace for me out among the trees in the forest. This angel is an Angel of the forest, with leaves for wings, and flowers in her hair. She whispers…

“Look up and reach for the sky. Your strong roots will hold you. I bring you the peace of  nature in the forest”

I am taking an online painting class called Tiny Bags of Love  offered by Jeanne Marie Webb.     Stop by to see the amazing faces that emerge on her tea bags, all the way from South Africa.  She is a wonderful teacher. I discovered it is not easy to paint so small, but it is playful, magical and sacred.

More of my tea bag angels  will be sharing their love and messages on here soon.

Blessings,

Song of Hope

Art isn’t paint; It’s love.” Phillip Hicken

This art…the Song Of Hope.. was created  in the lovely inspirational collage class of Petra Hrziwnatzi.  She says…”I truly believe that what you put your attention on grows, and with this philosophy in mind, I infuse my art with a lot of love and positive energy.  I do this so that people can be inspired and uplifted every time they look at my art.” She combines beautiful words and images in her art. Click on her name link to check out her art and classes. Her class is perfect for beginning artists ( no drawing required..lol).

For me, as I choose the papers, the colors, and the textures my busy mind settles into a space where it is focusing on creating beauty. There are even layers of words, quotes and inspiration below the paint. Layers of love. No wonder art is good for my soul.

In this one, the Song of Hope, the art whispers:

…it is safe to unfold my wings, to share my art even though I am still a beginner, to be soft and gentle like the color of the wings, to sing with joy like the birds

What does it whisper to you?

with Love

Stepping into the unknown

It take courage to share any kind of art. Especially as a beginner. But just as the angels nudged me to leap into taking an online art class at age 58, they are nudging me to start sharing the journey.

This blog will be about finding healing and joy in art. It feels vulnerable and fulfilling at the same time. Art has healed me in so many ways. If sharing my art touches even one person, it is worth it.

Courage starts with showing up and letting ourselves be seen.”  Brené Brown

I am a nature girl, artist and bringer of light. I live on a farm with my husband, 2 horses, 3 mini-donkeys, barn cats and our puppies. I love to take photos and create sacred art, especially angels. Looking for beauty has an amazing ability to calm me. My wish is that sharing will uplift your heart. May your day be blessed.
